On top of that, the information linked to the chip isn\u2019t always kept up to date. That\u2019s when a dog tag with your dog\u2019s name and your phone number becomes incredibly useful. If your dog is found, the person who finds them can contact you right away. So, having a dog tag made is always a smart idea. But how do you choose the right tag for your four-legged friend? That\u2019s exactly what we\u2019ll help you with in this blog. <\/p>\n

What can you engrave on a tag?<\/h2>\n

Of course, you can have your dog\u2019s name engraved on a tag. But there\u2019s room for much more. Most people choose a dog tag with a name and phone number. After all, the purpose of a tag is that someone can call you immediately when they find your dog. But what if your phone battery is dead or you\u2019ve accidentally left your phone at home? Some people like to include their street name and house number on the tag as well. <\/p>\n

Do you often take your dog on holiday or do you live close to the border? Then it\u2019s a good idea to add your country code to the phone number on the tag. For the Netherlands, this is +31. That way, you can be sure people can reach you even when you\u2019re abroad. <\/p>\n

In some cases, such as life-threatening allergies, it\u2019s useful to mention this on the tag too. But how do you do that without making it look cluttered? You could choose to put this information on the tag instead of your dog\u2019s name. Another option is to engrave \u201cAllergy capsule\u201d under your dog\u2019s name. Then you can add an address <\/a>capsule containing your dog\u2019s allergy information. <\/p>\n

Which material dog tag should I choose?<\/h2>\n

Dog tags can be made from many different materials, but not all of them are equally durable or hard-wearing. Plastic and wooden tags are becoming increasingly popular. And while they may look beautiful, they tend to wear out faster and can easily break during a play session with other dogs. Wooden tags often crack in half over time, as they don\u2019t cope well with moisture. <\/p>\n

Traditional tags are often made from stainless steel because it doesn\u2019t rust and is easy to engrave. However, stainless steel is relatively heavy.
