Lineke, what was the moment you decided you needed Leo in your life?
About seven years ago, I met an acquaintance at a birthday party with her absolutely adorable little dog. I was instantly smitten and thought: if I ever want a dog, then exactly like this sweetie – a toy poodle! When that same acquaintance had a litter a few years ago, I felt that little flutter, but I didn’t act on it yet. Until two years ago, when she had another litter. Before I knew it, I had gone to visit and… love at first sight! I didn’t sleep for five days, but immediately felt this was meant to be. Leo looked so deeply into my eyes, and that first evening together on the couch, I felt our magical soul connection. I loved him unconditionally right away – he simply belongs with me! 💚
How did you come up with the name Leo – does it have a special meaning?
Because everything happened so quickly, we only chose his definitive name together at home. It doesn’t have a deep meaning, except that it sounds perfectly strong and sweet to me. And most importantly: it’s great to call out! Haha, a friend and I even practiced with the whole name list!
Lineke, how did you first discover Leo’s ‘inner roar’?
Leo’s inner roar isn’t a roar like a lion’s – it’s raw, real, and beautifully unconditional. Sometimes quiet, sometimes loud, but always so pure! Leo is incredibly sensitive and can feel exactly how I’m doing. We’ve shared so many beautiful moments this year that we love to show on Instagram, but also really sad moments. And Leo is always there, to comfort and protect me like a true lion. That makes him my little hero! 🦁
Leo, what’s your signature ‘roar’ move when you’re feeling fierce?
Attacking that terrible vacuum cleaner! It tries to attack my mama – what a horrible thing that thinks it’s the boss. I may be small, but I’m mighty when needed!
Leo, what’s your secret recipe for romanticizing an ordinary Tuesday?
I wake up and snuggle close to mama for a bit longer. Outside, everything smells new – the sidewalk is a whole perfume of scents! I chase swirling leaves and sniff flowers as if I’ve just met them. After our morning walk, I love taking a wonderful nap and dreaming of playdates and treats. You call it Tuesday, I call it pure magic! ✨
Leo, which outfit shows your fashionable side best?
That’s not one specific outfit! Never the same thing two days in a row – that’s our motto. We love mixing & matching to give it our own touch. Sometimes a product is so beautiful it doesn’t need anything else. The Bo collection is already so gorgeous on its own! Two-toned which makes it so playful. We have it in grey with black – goes with everything and is strong, casual, and chic all at once! And we have the emerald with nude, and that green color is truly mama’s favorite!
Of course, everything also needs to fit comfortably and be practical. I’m a real cold baby who loves wearing a warm sweater in winter. And rain? Without a raincoat, I’m definitely not coming! 🌧️
Leo, if you organized a fashion show, what theme would you choose?
Definitely something with LEOpard! It’s in the name, haha! I’d call all my Instagram model friends: “Time to shine on the catwalk!” Mama is full of great ideas, but we can’t reveal them all. You never know what the future holds! 😉
Lineke, does Leo make you enjoy life more, and if so, how?
Absolutely! Leo is exactly what I needed in my life, without knowing it. The bond we have is incredibly intense and has truly enriched me! I was initially afraid that having a dog would limit my freedom, but actually it’s given me more freedom. I now go to the beach or forest much more spontaneously. Everything I do is simply more fun with Leo. Is Leo not invited to the party? Then we’re not coming! Haha (a bit exaggerated, of course)
Which daily routine of yours is most Instagram-worthy?
I think it’s definitely our GRWM every morning! Leo now has so many outfits – different collars, scarves, chains, harnesses, you name it. So in the mornings we choose his outfit of the day together, and Leo always sits so patiently and nicely for it. He’s fine with everything and everything looks amazing on him! 📸
Leo, if you made a romantic movie, who would be your co-star and why?
Ooh… choosing who my co-star would be is really impossible! I have so many sweet friends. Maybe a romantic film about dog friendships and how real and pure they can be.
Mama says I’m a born actor, by the way. Maybe because I manipulate her a little sometimes. But hey, that’s just talent, right? 🎬
